Peruvian coffee farmers to visit Green Line this fall

The South American country of Peru has been in the news a lot lately, as a devastating earthquake occurred there about two weeks ago. Here at the Green Line, Peru is often on our mind, because that's where our wonderful house coffee, "Independents Peruvian Select," is grown.

The earthquake hit the coastal town of Pisco the hardest. Our coffee is grown far away, by the farmer-owned Cooperativa San Fernando, near Cusco, high in the Andes. While the folks in the San Fernando community did not experience the widespread destruction that happened in Pisco, reports from the country inform us that almost everyone is affected.

This fall you will have the chance to meet some of the farmers from Cooperativa San Fernado in Peru. The Green Line Cafe, along with our partners in Independents Coffee Cooperative, are bringing the Peruvian farmers to Philly, so they can experience the global impact of their environmentally conscious coffee-growing. We are also involved in helping the Peruvian farmers raise about $26,000 US so that they can build a much-needed solar powered drying facility and improve upon the coffee you already know and love!

Stay tuned for more details!
